Tyler Dow Brings You
The Los Angeles Hospitality Industry

Douglas Beliakoff, Chattanooga food, Chattanooga, food and beverage, Tennessee

Tyler Dow began as career in the restaurant industry at the age of 15, washing dishes and bussing tables in an American-style restaurant in the “home county” suburbs of London. It only took one shift, and he was enamored: the energy, the chaos, the late-night hours, and the camaraderie of his co-workers set the hook.

Following his initial experiences and development into a waiter and bartender, he subsequently worked throughout the United States and Europe while pursuing high school, undergraduate (twice) and graduate school diplomas. He even had the audacity to imagine that his time in the industry was over the day he received his law school diploma.

But within 2 years, he had returned to the industry in his blood. “Cube” life would never compare to the carnage of The Industry.

Since 1985 he has been involved at all levels and at all capacities at the operations end of the Business, performing roles from General Manager to Director of Operations to Security to Line Cook to Garde Manger, and so on.

Tyler has been a resident of Southern California since 1992. He has developed restaurant and nightclub operations in Orange and Los Angeles counties, expressing diverse fine dining and fashionable nightclub/lounge concepts. He has worked as a consultant and as a staff trainer, and has overseen the development and implementation of restaurant build-outs, menus, wine lists, corporate customer-relations protocols, and staff training programs. He has worked in French, Japanese, American and Italian concepts. He is restaurant-functional in four languages. And his background in the legal end of commercial real estate has made him a valued advisor and counselor.

Over the years Tyler Dow has developed a taste for authentic and well-prepared food of almost any style, with an emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients, and diverse cultural palates. Simultaneously, he has become closely familiar with both new- and old-world wine production philosophies and methodologies.

And when not on duty on the service floor, you’re likely to find him on the golf course.
