Portland Insider Brier Chung
Welcomes You To Portland Underground
Hi! Im Brier Chung and I am so glad to be your Portland Insider. I have lived in Portland all my life and love the city and all it has to offer!
I worked in high-tech for 20 years, enjoying cooking, food and festivals in my spare time. Food has been my creative outlet, my stress relief and my joy. I took a leap of faith and left my previous career and started my own business as a personal chef.
Chef Brier, was created in early 2006. I go into people's homes, cook a weeks worth of meals for them to heat and eat later. I prepare and serve dinner parties. I do in-home catering for parties and events. I give cooking classes. I do barbecue and barbecues! Pretty much, if a client asks for something, I talk with them and we work out what type of service I can provide that will meet or exceed their needs.
I am self-taught I did not go to culinary school, though have a great respect for those who have. I do have a true love and respect for food. This has centered many events in my life on learning more about food. Studying in France and Italy; learning Mexican food from a home-cook for 18 months; learning all I can from my Father-in-law, a former Chef from Hawaii; have all influenced my cooking and enhanced my skills. I love and respect food.
This business is not only about food but also about networking and developing strong support systems. I have been a proud member of PCN (
Personal Chefs Network) for almost three years. The support, advice and sharing of ideas among respected peers is invaluable and that is what this network has provided me. I am currently the Head Chef of our Oregon chapter.
From food carts to five-star, from festivals to hidden finds, this Portland Insider will bring you all this beautiful Rose City has to offer! Oh and dont forget happy hour
Cheers!
