istoric Charleston has been long known for it’s charm and grace but over the last decade Charleston restaurants have emerged as a crown jewel in the City's crown.

With it's reputation solidified as a true culinary gem of the South, visitors are spoiled for choice. But this doesn't stop the culinary innovations. With a roster of richly acclaimed chefs and establishments as a baseline, each year brings new stars to the Charleston restaurant lineup. Dining in Charleston is more that just going out to eat, it is a pastime for locals and visitors alike. Dressing to the nines is not required here as Charleston is a casually elegant city. Regardless of the understated dress code, you can surely expect to experience some of the best food that has ever crossed your lips!

With so many high quality Charleston restaurants it was hard to narrow our list to create a top ten, but stars emerged and the richest cream rose. Our dining experience in Charleston ran the gamut. From the most popular fine dining options to little-known restaurants that are often overlooked in the press, we tried them all.

While we focused predominantly on Charleston restaurants within the peninsula area (because it's where tourists and out-of-towners head first) we have thrown in a couple outlying eateries as they especially deserve to be on your can’t miss list.
